Min: Russia plans no defense spending raise in ‘16 over Syria
NIZHNY TAGIL, Sverdlovsk Region, Nov 25 (PRIME) -- The Russian Finance Ministry will not raise defense spending in 2016 despite increasing tensions over Syria, Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters on Wednesday.
“No, it’s impossible,” Siluanov said.
On Tuesday, Ankara said that Turkish troops had shot down Russia’s Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jet because it violated the country’s airspace. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the plane was still on the Syrian territory at the crash moment. The incident will have serious consequences for the Russian–Turkish relations, Putin promised.
